Our mission is simple: “Blue Hills College seeks to nurture each student in a safe Christian environment, educating them for a life of faith and service to God and humanity”. We partner with students and families to help them achieve the highest possible academic outcomes, whilst providing the support and care that each student needs to excel and be equipped to for life.
Our vision is for each student to: “Achieve personal educational excellence, accept individual responsibility, and adopt Christian values”.
Blue Hills College is a caring school community that spiritually and academically equips, challenges, and inspires students to make a difference. Our rural campus, situated on the edge of the Alstonville Plateau on the Lismore district, offers increased opportunities by providing relevant learning environments for students from Pre-Kindy to Year 12.
Blue Hills College is an educational institution, which provides an educational program based on Biblical truths.
It seeks to challenge each student in ways that will have them excel in life and respond creatively to the calling of God.
Approaching beauty, being creative, having healthy relationships and cultural development reflects God our creator.
Blue Hills College accepts that human sinfulness limits our God given potential. Only through Jesus can we have redemption, which gives fulfilment and enjoyment in our responsibility and talent.
Understanding this then, we recognise that each student is a unique individual, deserving to be supported, treated and educated as such to excel in their academic, spiritual, social and physical life.
Blue Hills College also encourages and supports the involement and participation of the community, parents and friends in the students’ education, as well as the various inter College programs.
BHC is a member of the world-wide Adventist Education system; one of the largest Protestant education systems in the world. Adventist Schools Australia operates forty-eight schools and caters for more than 11,600 students, which provides a network of resources to give each child an education of the highest quality, in an ideal Christian learning environment.
Our primary school provides specialised education for students from Pre-Kindy to Year 6. From the very beginning, students in the lower years are assisted to establish connections between what they know and what they will discover in the classroom. As they transition to upper primary school, students are offered a dynamic and engaging curriculum, and a supportive learning environment that equips them to excel in secondary school.
Secondary school students experience a close and supportive working relationship with the staff at Blue Hills College. The classroom environment encourages individual accountability and achievement, and the educational program is designed to encourage the successful completion of the NSW School Certificate and Higher School Certificate.

The staff at BHC are a team of united, innovative professionals who are committed to their role as mentors and educators. Students’ education is enriched by inspired and motivated Christian teachers, who have a strong focus on “best practice” standards from around the world. Staff create a safe and supportive environment where students are able to realise their potential and develop skills that will empower them to make informed and wise choices.
The solid focus at Blue Hills is partnered with a genuine care and concern for our students. Student welfare is treated with diligence and enthusiasm, where every student is seen as a unique and valuable individual. Small class sizes ensure no-one is missed. Every grade, from Pre-Kindy to Year 12, has a team of dedicated staff focussed on student care, and a full-time chaplain is available to all students.
We believe that caring for students is a demonstration of God’s love. As we nurture and support our students, they are in turn encouraged to live a life where they care for and serve others. Throughout their education at BHC, students are encouraged to take an active interest in making the community a better place, to appreciate diversity, and to develop a positive attitude towards others.
Our vision is for students to love life, and in doing so gain an understanding of how they can make a valuable contribution to their community.
There are many opportunities for students in every grade to impact their world. Student-led initiatives raise support and awareness of global issues, whilst service trips provide students in secondary school with opportunities to make a difference first-hand. Student-led fundraising at BHC has a strong tradition of supporting organisations such as ADRA.
BHC is open to all students, regardless of religious or cultural background, and every attempt is made to accommodate disadvantaged students wherever possible.
