
Blue Hills College Objectives
BHC adopts an holistic approach to education which encompasses the development of the spiritual, intellectual, social, physical, and aesthetic dimensions of each student. Our general objectives are designed to guide students towards the development of their full potential, and in doing so, supporting them to achieve success in reaching their personal goals.
Spiritual : To foster and promote in students
- a realisation of the need for God to be the source of guidance and direction throughout life
- a continuing relationship with Christ as their personal Saviour and friend
- an awareness of the positive benefits of a Christian lifestyle, and a desire to live a life in harmony with God
- a desire to be of service to God and to others
Academic : To foster and promote in students
- a recognition of the responsibility to develop God-given talents in the service of others
- appreciation of the value of knowledge and a willingness to learn
- literary and numeracy skills which enable them to meet the demands of everyday life
- the ability to communicate effectively through listening, speaking and writing
- problem solving skills and strategies
Social : To foster and promote in students
- a healthy self-respect and a sense of worth
- skills which will enable them to mix confidently with peers
- the capacity to make carefully considered decisions, and to accept full responsibility for the consequences of those decisions
- the capacity to accommodate, with tolerance, the rights and opinions of others
- the development of habits of resepct, courtesy, graciousness, and decorum, in harmony with Christian standards
- a recognition of fair play and a positive attitude towards justice
Physical : To foster and promote in students
- a recognition of the responsibility to care for their physical and mental health
- an attitude of good sportsmanship
- a recognition of the values of, and practice in, the principles of healthful living in all aspects of life; including diet, dress, temperance,
- recreation, rest, safety, leisure time, and exercise
Aesthetic : To foster and promote in students
- an appreciation of the creative powers of God as seen in the world around us
- an appreciation of the aesthetic aspects of life
- an appreciation of the creative arts as a meaningful way of expression
